This kit includes everything you need to bypass the voltage regulator control inside your vehicle's computer and fix charging issues. Engine Control Unit (ECU)
The ECU, also known as the ECC, ECM, EEC, or PCM, is the computer that controls your vehicle's engine. The ECU has a voltage regulator that controls the alternator. If the voltage regulator fails, the alternator will not work properly. This can leave you with a dead battery and a car that won't start.
In the past, the only way to fix a failed voltage regulator was to replace the entire ECU. This was a costly and time-consuming process. However, now there is a better solution: the External Voltage Regulator (ERCK) kit.
The ERCK kit allows you to bypass the ECU's voltage regulator and connect the alternator directly to the battery. This is a much cheaper and easier solution than replacing the ECU.
To install the ERCK kit, you will need to:
- Unplug or remove the two field wires from the back of the alternator.
- Ground one of the field terminals on the alternator.
- Jumper the other field terminal to the positive battery post on the back of the alternator.
- Connect the QS8313 Voltage Regulator to the alternator and the switched ignition line.
- Start the engine and check the voltage on the battery. The voltage should be between 13.5 and 14.5 volts.
If the voltage is not within this range, you may need to adjust the voltage regulator. To do this, use the screw on the back of the QS8313.
The ERCK is a simple and affordable way to fix a failed voltage regulator. If you are experiencing charging problems, the ERCK is a great option.
